The beginning of a new chapter…

When I was a child, I always wanted to write a book. Actually, I started a few times (and it’s quite a lot of fun to read these drafts now, because they are amazingly bad!) but never finished one. One reason for that is that I always had troubles with the start of new chapters. The question of what should happen next was just too hard.  On Thursday, I started a new chapter of my life by moving to Gothenburg - and this time it was quite easy, since I knew what was going to happen. There were, and still are, many things that are so much fun that I haven’t had time to think too much. My flat (perfect location, beautiful furnishings), Skatås sjöar (a swim and run competition IFK Göteborg is arranging on a regular basis) and the training weekend with IFK (where I am right now) are just some things to start with. Tomorrow, the next nice happening is about to start already: Together with the Swiss National Team I’ll be preparing myself for the World Cup taking place in Sarpsborg

World University Orienteering Championship

Being a part time student has many advantages: you don’t have to get up early every morning; you can fit your training quite easy in your daily schedule and – the best thing – you can be selected for the World University Orienteering Championship. After a tough winter and spring season I was really happy that I finally could show a better performance at the test races and got selected for all the forest disciplines, which include middle, long and relay.   The preparations went quite well and at the test races for the «real» world championship in Latvia served as a dress rehearsal for the WUOC in Finland, showing me exactly which points I should pay most attention to. My good performance in the long distance helped build up my self-confidence (that I had some troubles with in the last few months) and confirmed my feeling that this discipline is still my strength.
